Panchakarma - The Complete Ayurvedic Detoxification

Panchakarma literally translates to Five(Pancha) Actions(Karma). It is an extremely effective detoxification process in the ancient Indian medical science known as Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is highly revered throughout the world because, unlike conventional therapies, it helps us to rectify our lifestyle to attain a balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Unlike western medicines, Ayurveda focuses more on the body's constitution (Prakriti) and life forces (doshas) as the basis of ayurvedic medicine. Instead of curing diseases temporarily, the practitioners of Ayurveda believe in eliminating the root cause itself so that the disease never returns. Dr. Jasnas will help you transform and heal with our Panchakarma treatment in Dubai, the most comprehensive Ayurvedic detox program designed to promote health and wellbeing.

In today’s world, leading a healthy lifestyle is not a trait many wishes to adopt. Constant work pressure, sleeplessness, poor eating habits, lack of proper nutrition, and lack of exercise are all examples of an unhealthy lifestyle. In Ayurveda, it is believed that the root cause of all ailments is the accumulation of toxins in the body due to such poor management of the body. Saturated fats and cholesterol which accumulate over years in the blood vessels, eventually become the cause of various heart diseases. Similarly, fat deposited in the body gives rise to obesity. It is truly difficult to lead an ideal lifestyle and such toxins will inadvertently find their way into our life.

Panchakarma deals extensively with removing such toxins and other impurities from different parts of the body with a 5 step process.

  1. Vamana - Induced Vomiting

  2. Virechana - Induced Bowel Movement

  3. Basti - Medicated Enema

  4. Nasya - Cleansing through the nose

  5. Raktamokshana - Blood purification

  1. Vamana: Medication is given so that the toxins meltdown and accumulate in the upper body cavities. After that, vomiting is induced by decoction and emetic medicine. This procedure is highly effective and best suited for ailments related to Kapha and Pitta doshas like Asthma, Indigestion, obesity, hyperacidity etc.

  2. Virechana: This step involves a thorough cleaning of the bowels. As unpleasant as it sounds, it cleans out all impurities accumulated in the liver, intestines, and gallbladder. This procedure is best suited for ailments related to Pita doshas like liver and spleen disorders, stomatitis, herpes, celiac infection, etc.

  3. Basti: This process involves administering medicated herbal decoction and oil into the colon via the rectum. This induces the toxins to be absorbed and ultimately removed from the colon. This procedure helps out with ailments related to Vata Dohas like Arthritis, piles, constipation, skin disorders, sciatica etc.

  4. Nasyam: This step involves gradually dropping medicated herbal nasal drops into the nostrils in order to clear the accumulated Kapha around the head area. Although an uncomfortable process, it helps to relieve cerebral pain, sinusitis, neurological disorders, migraine, sleep and vision disorders, etc

  5. Raktamokshana: Finally the detoxification of the blood is done in the last step. It involves removing impure blood which was the cause of many ailments. It can be done for the whole body or a particular area of the body. This is usually achieved by leech therapy and/or venous punctures. It helps in relieving many issues related to skin infections, dermatitis, psoriasis, abscesses, etc.

Panchakarma is a rejuvenation process and one needs to get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activities, loud music, and late nights during the same. Although it may be difficult initially, regular meditation will help in overcoming the anxiety related to the procedures. Practising mild yoga and following a strict dietary plan which is advised based on the individual’s body type is highly recommended. Do not restrict any natural urges like coughing, sneezing, and bowel movements. Eating small amounts of food by thoroughly chewing and drinking herbal tea is also important during the procedure. Once Panchakarma is done, many ailments which had caused major inconveniences and even those which were yet to surface will be gone. The best part of Ayurveda is that there are no side effects since only natural ingredients are used in all the procedures and no artificially developed chemicals come into the picture. It is recommended to undergo the procedure by all at least once in their life, to enjoy an improved standard of living. People who undergo the procedure will attain the following benefits:
